About

Hi! Laurie Lewis here. This blog began as my way of sharing my experiences and photos of 22 days spent hiking the John Muir Trail through the high Sierra here in California. We started on August 13, 2014, at Glacier Point in Yosemite, and ended on September 3, 2014 at Mt Whitney Portal, near the town of Lone Pine.

Since then, I have tried to get out at least a couple of times/year to explore the Sierra, and occasionally I update my blog with new adventures.

Please feel free to leave comments or corrections (Betty!). I’d love to hear from you.

Laurie

    • I have loved reading about the your adventures. I have hiked bits and pieces but always thought that hiking the trail would be fantastic. Thanks for letting me enjoy it. Looking forward to your concert at the Powerhouse.

  1. Thank you Laurie for posting these hiking trails of yours. I am not able to hike anymore. Your trails made me feel young again! I am playing your new CD “And Laurie Lewis” as I viewed your adventures! Most enjoyable CD, and most enjoyable beautiful website. I love this! Thanks again.

  2. Laurie, thank you for writing this blog including all of the pictures! My sister and I are planning a 14 day trip in Northern Yosemite and your blog has been so helpful to give us an idea of what to expect. We wanted to hike the JMT but can’t get a permit, however after reading about your adventures I think our new plan will be even better than the JMT.

  3. Yes, there is so much to explore, and the JMT is just too darned popular! I absolutely loved the loop that Barbara and I did in 2020 in northern Yosemite. I highly recommend that. Going from Tuolumne Meadow to Glen Aulin, and then up Cold Canyon to Virginia Canyon to Matterhorn Canyon, and eventually down to the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. Fantastic loop!
